Maple Dene care home unveils new resident spa
Maple Dene care home in Birmingham has opened a brand-new spa where residents can enjoy indulging in a variety of treatments.
Opening the spa was an project born from Anchor’s This is Inspires - a care home-led holistic service improvement framework – after residents shared their ideas for a new common area in the home. The new facility now offers resident manicures, pedicures, facials and aromatherapy treatments.
Resident Maureen Kynaston, 94, said:
The new spa is absolutely brilliant! I can’t wait to take advantage of all the services on offer.
At Maple Dene spa days are part of the weekly activity calendar alongside a wide variety of crafting pass times, theme days, special events and celebrations, all designed to offer residents ways to keep active and bolster their mental and physical wellbeing.
Leisha Cooper, Home Manager of Anchor’s Maple Dene care home, said:
Making wellbeing accessible and inclusive is important across Anchor’s care homes so the care team was thrilled when residents wanted to put a spa in the communal area of the home.
It’s a great place for residents to relax and the care team are amazing at giving the spa treatments. We even have a colleague who is trained in head massage. Big thanks to everyone on the team who helped turn the idea to make the spa into a reality!
