Firth House celebrates 35 years at the heart of the Selby community
Residents, colleagues, families and members of the local community have come together to celebrate 35 years of Firth House care home, marking three and a half decades since the home first opened its doors in June 1991.
The anniversary was an opportunity to reflect on the many memories made at Firth House over the years, as current residents and their families were joined by former colleagues and special guests to celebrate the home's place in the Selby community.
The day also marked a personal milestone for Home Manager Pearl Millin, who celebrated 35 years with Anchor, having joined Firth House on the very day the home opened.
Guests enjoyed welcome drinks, speeches and a buffet lunch before spending the afternoon enjoying live entertainment, games and activities. Former colleagues reunited with the current team, sharing memories and celebrating the lasting impact Firth House has had on residents and the wider community over the past three and a half decades.
Among those attending were Deputy Mayor Richard Harrison and his wife, former Home Manager Louise Bulcock, who continues to work at Anchor today, former Deputy Manager Penny Howarth, and former Service Care Assessor Jackie Mook.
Pearl Millin, Home Manager at Firth House, said:
It's been an incredible 35 years, and I'm so proud of everything our residents and colleagues have achieved together. This celebration was a wonderful way to reflect on how far we've come – and to look ahead to all the memories still to make!
Sandy Stewart, resident at Firth House, said:
From the moment I arrived, I felt part of something special here at Firth House. The team always go above and beyond to make every day meaningful – whether it's a small gesture or a big celebration like this one. It really does feel like home.
