The Cedars care home officially opens Keep Active Lounge
The Cedars Care Home at Sneyd Green, Stoke-on-Trent, welcomed Lord Mayor Councillor Lyn Sharpe to the home, who officially launched their Keep Active Lounge.
Councillor Sharpe enjoyed participating in all the sports activities on offer during her visit.
Councillor Sharpe said,
The Keep Active Lounge is so interactive. From a full-sized pool table, to darts, golf, card games, dominoes and much more.
Playing these sports games will, I’m sure, prompt happy memories of going down the local pub playing darts and pool for The Cedars’ residents and their families.
I was thrilled to be asked to open the lounge and especially enjoyed playing pool with the cheerleaders.
Jo Farmer, Home Manager said:
Our Keep Active Lounge has exceeded my expectations.
Our aim was to promote wellbeing and social interaction with a lounge where our residents can go with their families and staff, keep active and most importantly have fun as well as sharing their sporting memories.
The positive feedback from everyone has been overwhelming.
Susan Cartwright, daughter of resident Norah Shaw, said,
The variety of sporting activities on offer in the lounge is brilliant. It’s such a great idea, very interactive, a good way of stimulating the residents and lots of fun.
The games are available for residents to play any time they wish. They can pop in and out of the lounge either on their own, with friends and family or with staff.
We will look forward to taking Mum into the lounge when we visit, she especially likes playing darts.
Resident John said,
I had a great time playing pool with my daughter and grandson, there’s something for everyone.
Resident Sarah said,
Oh it’s marvellous, I had such a great time, I always sit downstairs and watch what is happening around me but now we have this room.
Care assistants Ketrina and Sharon dressed as cheerleaders to add extra colour and fun to the launch event. Entertainment was provided by residents' favourites, The Bluebirds.
