Bringing people together this Christmas across our care homes in Staffordshire
Residents and colleagues at Anchor care homes across Staffordshire are embracing the festive spirit in style.
From crafting Christmas decorations and singing carols, to decorating trees and baking festive treats, each activity is bringing smiles, laughter and a sense of togetherness. These celebrations are a wonderful reminder of the positive impact creativity and community can have on people’s wellbeing during the festive season.
The Cedars, Maple Tree Court, Park Hall and Chesterton Lodge kicked off their festive celebrations with their spectacular Christmas lights switch-ons. The annual tradition is a much-loved moment in the lead-up to Christmas, bringing joy to residents and the local community. Residents have also been busy creating their own decorations to hang on their care homes’ Christmas trees.
Festive cheer has filled The Cedars in Stoke-on-Trent this December, with a lively programme of daily activities bringing joy to residents. Residents have loved their entertaining variety of festive shows with local entertainers from The Fabulous Bluebird Christmas Show to Glyn Jones and The Fantastic Britt. Creativity has been flowing too, with residents enjoying gingerbread house decorating and crafting beautiful table centrepieces. One of the biggest highlights has been the fun of dressing up - Christmas jumper days, festive pyjamas, and even visits to the magical Santa’s Grotto created by the colleagues at The Cedars have brought laughter and warmth to everyone.
Jo Ellis, Home Manager at The Cedars, says:
Christmas is such a treasured time for our residents, and it’s been heart-warming to see just how much joy this year’s celebrations have brought. Our team puts so much care into creating moments that bring people together, from festive shows to creative crafts and watching everyone join in with such enthusiasm has made The Cedars feel full of Christmas magic.
Margaret, resident at The Cedars, says:
I’ve enjoyed all the festive activities this year, but the different shows have been a real highlight for me. Every day has felt like getting dressed up to go out and soak up the Christmas buzz, only we get to enjoy it all from the comfort of our own home.
We are proud of the real community feel each of our care homes have, where people interact with fellow residents, families and friends, and are supported to continue doing all the things they enjoy. Christmas is a special time of year for so many reasons and colleagues always take this great opportunity to organise some extra special activities. Find out more about our approach to wellness here.
