Bringing festive joy to residents across our Merseyside care homes
Residents and colleagues at our care homes across Merseyside are embracing the festive spirit in style.
From crafting Christmas decorations and singing carols, to decorating trees and baking festive treats, each activity is bringing smiles, laughter and a sense of togetherness. These celebrations are a wonderful reminder of the positive impact creativity and community can have on people’s wellbeing during the festive season.
Widnes Hall, Montrose Hall, Thomas Henshaw Court, Birkenhead Court, Heyberry House, Hurst Park Court, Sandstones and Upton Grange kicked off their festive celebrations with their spectacular Christmas lights switch-ons. The annual tradition is a much-loved moment in the lead-up to Christmas, bringing joy to residents and the local community. Residents have also been busy creating their own decorations to hang on their care homes’ Christmas trees.
This year, Widnes Hall have been taking festivities to new heights with an exciting programme of activities throughout December. Widnes Hall is bringing everyone together for festive-themed days, from ‘Christmas Jumper Day’ to ‘Pyjama Day’ and ‘Elf Day’, with residents, families and colleagues all joining in on the fun. Widnes Hall even had a visit from a local the Warrington choir, who gave a memorable performance and got everyone in the Christmas mood.
Amanda Ashton, Home Manager at Widnes Hall, says:
Our festive activities have been bringing such happiness to our residents, with so much variety to look forward to throughout the month. From festive outings to dress-up days and musical performances, celebrating together has brought so much joy and it’s been amazing to see so many smiling faces all around.
Dorothy, resident at Widnes Hall, says:
There’s such an exciting programme of activities happening this Christmas at Widnes Hall - it’s been so wonderful to get involved and make new memories all together. The themed days have been bringing so much laughter and joy, which is exactly what this time of year is all about. Thank you so much to everyone who’s been involved in making this time so special!
We are proud of the real community feel each of our care homes have, where people interact with fellow residents, families and friends, and are supported to continue doing all the things they enjoy. Christmas is a special time of year for so many reasons and colleagues always take this great opportunity to organise some extra special activities. Find out more about our approach to wellness here.
