How Be Well 360 has improved resident Sue Swindell’s life
Anchor resident Sue Swindell, shares her positive experience of using Anchor’s Be Well 360 programme and the impact it has had on her wellbeing.
I started the Be Well 360 programme when I moved to my new home at The Standard in April 2023. It was described to me as a way to help me lead a healthy, active and connected lifestyle and since starting the programme I’ve felt a lot happier.
I worked with a wellbeing advisor to come up with a tailored plan which I follow every day. Not only have I lost weight and feel much fitter, but I’ve been feeling a lot better about myself in general.
As part of the programme we are given free Fitbits to help monitor our health which has helped me to do a lot more walking. There’s also an online exercise programme we can access all the time which offers a range of activities such as Yoga or Reki. There’s no obligation to do anything, but it’s nice to have the option to keep fit in a variety of ways and it just keeps you going instead of sitting in front of the TV all day.
We also have weekly sessions in the lounge at The Standard. They have music playing from the 60s and 70s and we do all sorts of exercises. There are seated exercises for those sitting down too. About 12 of us attend weekly and it’s great fun exercising together.
I'm really happy with my new home and lifestyle at The Standard. I’d recommend the Be Well 360 service to anyone around my age, especially if they are struggling with feeling down and depressed like I was. If you find somewhere like this you discover there is help if you need it, and I would’ve loved to have lived in a place like this 10 years ago. We really embrace our differences here and it’s just amazing to be part of a friendly and open community.
