Godiva Lodge celebrates St Patrick’s day in style
Residents from Godiva Lodge celebrated St Patrick’s day in style with a party on Thursday 17 March!
The team and residents got dressed up in green outfits and decked out the home with shamrocks and green decorations. The decorations were made by the residents during arts and crafts activities to mark the feast day of Ireland’s patron saint.
The residents took part in a number of activities to celebrate the occasion. The highlight of the day was the hunt for chocolate gold coins at the end of the rainbow! The residents were also treated to a live performance of some traditional Irish songs by local performer Karl Morris.
Resident Mary Smith, 95, has lived at the care home for 1 year and 4 months, said she has really enjoyed the party.
Mary, who was born in Galway, Ireland, said:
I remember when I was younger in Ireland how we celebrated St Patrick’s Day. It was lots of fun and it was a great party here, too.
There’s always lots of interesting and new activities to try here. I’ve always had a soft spot for St Patrick’s Day, and I’m overjoyed we can keep celebrating it here!
Ciara Monaghan, Deputy Manager of Godiva Lodge care home, said:
We’ve loved celebrating St Patrick’s Day here at Godiva Lodge. We’ve really enjoyed making the decorations and partying with the residents and team.
We enjoy organising interesting events for residents on special days like St Patrick’s Day. They’re a great way for to keep our residents mentally and physically active and they’re also a lot of fun to organise as well!
