Beech Hall care home spreads Christmas Cheer
In the run up to Christmas, a care home in Armley spreads festive cheer as they welcomed guests for a Christmas cake decorating competition.
The care team at Beech Hall care home on Far Fold Lane decked out the home in decorations as they were joined by nearby Anchor care homes for a day filled with festive fun.
Residents from each home joined forces to decorate their Christmas cake. The competition was judged based on taste, presentation, and resident involvement.
Joan O’Brien and Mavis Hoyles from Beech Hall care home have really been looking forward to decorating the cake.
Joan said:
I’m a big fan of Christmas cake decorating so I was pleased when I heard that we would be holding a Christmas cake competition.
I’ve always enjoyed decorating cakes, almost as much as I enjoy eating them! I really like the baking sessions at Anchor’s Beech Hall care home, and it was a great way to get into the holiday spirit.
Berkeley court care home won the competition with Beech Hall care home coming in at a close second place with their musical themed cake.
Residents from the care home have been enjoying plenty of festive activities throughout the month including Christmas themed arts and crafts sessions, carol singing, advent calendar designing, cookie decorating and a celebration for Elves Day during which colleagues dressed up for the occasion.
Lucie Cerna, Manager of Beech Hall care home, said:
Activities such as baking and carolling are firm favourites among our residents and it was nice to have the other homes join us for a fun filled day of Christmas spirit. We’re really looking forward to continuing to celebrate throughout the month!
