Willow Court housing resident celebrates 93rd birthday with family reunion
For Margaret Rooney, resident at Anchor Hanover’s Willow Court housing scheme in Leicester, birthday celebrations took on an especially festive mood this year.
Margaret, who turned 93 on 7th May, was able to enjoy an outdoor restaurant meal with her two children and their spouses thanks to the easing of lockdown restrictions. The sun was shining for the special day her children planned and everyone was overjoyed to be together for the occasion.
It was such a lovely day. It was the first time I’ve been out with my family in a long time and I enjoyed it so much.
Although Margaret’s 92nd birthday took place during the first national lockdown and she was unable to celebrate with family and friends, the team at Anchor Hanover’s Willow Court had cake delivered to her door and sang a socially distanced Happy Birthday to celebrate. Margaret, who is from Leicester, has lived at Willow Court for over seven years.
I didn’t want to leave my family home but moving to Anchor Hanover’s Willow Court turned out to be the best thing I’ve ever done. Since the moment I arrived I’ve loved it.
Claire Storer, Location Manager at Anchor Hanover’s Willow Court, said:
Margaret is such a lovely person and is a joy to have here. It was so heart-warming to see her and her family together for her birthday this year, the smile on her face said it all. We all wish her a very happy birthday.
Along with her two children, Margaret has five grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren, two of which were born during the pandemic. She is looking forward to meeting the newest members of her family very soon. For more information about Willow Court, please head to our dedicated webpage.
