Resident does sponsored walk in wife’s memory
Leslie Cohen, a resident at Ingleborough housing location in Enfield walked 10 miles in just five hours to raise money for the North London Hospice.
Leslie sadly lost his wife Mary in August 2023 after being married for 68 years. Leslie turned 91 in April this year and decided to take on the “Big Fun Walk” to raise as much as he could for the hospice which supported her prior to her death. He ended up raising over £2500.
He walked the full 10 miles in just five hours, never needing to stop or require any mobility support. Leslie revealed he keeps active through indoor bowls and is a keen bridge player.
Leslie, who has lived at Ingleborough housing location for 11 years, said:
I’m extremely proud of the achievement given I was the oldest person to ever complete the feat. I’ve done two marathons in the past as well.
My advice for others would be to keep as fit and healthy as possible. I try my best not to overeat.
Olukayode Jegede, Location Manager at Ingleborough housing location, said:
We’re all so proud of Leslie here at Ingleborough. It truly is an immense achievement, and one that we all can’t help but marvel at.
