Manor Court care home holds party for 107-year-old resident
Theresa Ryan, from Plymouth has celebrated an incredible milestone in their 107th birthday on 2nd June 2021 at Manor Court care home on Blandford Road.
Mrs Ryan blew out her candles at the party held for her at Manor Court where she has lived for 7 years. In celebration of her incredible achievement, Theresa was treated to a High Tea by the care team at Manor Court, who also made her a delicious chocolate birthday cake! This remarkable day was topped off by a special visit from members of Theresa’s family visiting as per latest government guidelines.
Grandmother of 3 of grandchildren, Mrs Ryan was born in Malta and moved Plymouth to be closer to her daughter Margaret. Before she retired Mrs Ryan worked in a clothing factory and as a playground assistant which Mrs Ryan until she retired at the age of 60.
Mrs Ryan said:
I am happy to have lived, and still be living, such a good life and still to have loved ones around me. My motto for a long and happy life is: always be kind to others, have all the chocolate you want, work hard, and have the occasional whisky or bailey’s!
Manor Court Care Home Manager Clair Webb said:
Theresa is a wonderful, caring person. She always likes to take part in the activities like dancing using pom pom’s whilst listening to old music. She always enjoys Elvis Presley songs and will often sing along to “Can’t Help Falling in Love.” All our colleagues love having a chat with Theresa, she a wicked sense of humour and infectious laugh with lights up the room!
