Fred Tibble Court gets crafty
Every Tuesday and Thursday residents at Fred Tibble Court in Dagenham get together and take part in creative art and craft sessions.
From jewellery making to pottery painting and cross stitch, there is something for everyone to enjoy and always some new skills to learn at the Extra Care Housing property.
Recently, residents have been making an array of items to decorate the garden with and are looking forward to enjoying them this summer.
Sarah Dunlop, Estate Manager at Fred Tibble Court said:
I find it is important that residents are encouraged to keep their minds healthy, as a healthy mind and socialisation can help with feelings of loneliness and depression. The activities encourage the residents to use their hands so reducing the symptoms of arthritis and other medical conditions such as Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.
Lois, resident of Fred Tibble Court said
I enjoy the art sessions and make sure I come along every Tuesday and Thursday for them. Not only am I learning something new, but I’m getting to know other people at the same time. By attending as many classes as I can, I fill my afternoons instead of being in my flat.
Fred Tibble Court Extra Care Housing offers retirement apartments for over 55s and on-site facilities including a residents' lounge, hair salon, cinema, guest room and landscaped gardens.
There are a range of activities taking place throughout the week which reflect the interests of the people living there and change on a regular basis.
