Chirton Lodge hold joint Coronation celebration with local nursery
Residents at Chirton Lodge retirement housing scheme in North Shields recently enjoyed celebrating the upcoming Coronation with children from a local nursery.
Anchor’s Chirton Lodge welcomed the children from nearby Little Blossoms nursery to join them in celebrating the crowning of King Charles III and to make cards for the new king.
Manager Christine Clerey said:
We very much enjoy working together with Little Blossoms on intergenerational projects and so celebrating this special occasion together felt fitting.
The residents really enjoy spending time with the children and talking to them about their interests. The Coronation is a historic event and something these children will remember all their lives, it’s nice to think that our joint celebration at Chirton Lodge will be part of their memories.
As well as time creating cards for the King, the children were read a story by one of the residents, enjoyed Coronation themed cupcakes and took home a goody bag.
Vikki Karter, Nursery Manager said:
Our children look forward to our visits with the residents of Chirton Lodge, or ‘The Grandmas’ as they say! The friendships formed and the time we spend together is so very cherished by us all.
