Bristol residents organise art exhibition
Residents at Penfield Court in Bristol recently organised an exhibition to sell their artwork. They also ran other stalls to sell cakes, plants and bric a brac.
The exhibition was held in the shared areas at Penfield Court, and although they faced some competition from the Bristol Harbour Festival, many members of the public came to visit.
Through opening their home to the public and engaging with visitors, residents were able to showcase their own vibrant community. They also raised nearly £400 and plan to use the money to buy some items for their shared garden.
Jean Mutch, a resident at Penfield Court who helped organise the exhibition said:
I really enjoyed the day and getting to know the people who came to visit, and it’s great we managed to raise some money. I’m looking forward to buying some items for the garden so we can all make the most of it and plan some outdoor parties next summer.
Our housing locations are places where people can make friends and communities are formed. Residents are welcome to lead on organising social events, and are free to get involved as much or as little as they want to.
Penfield Court is a retirement housing scheme situated close to Bristol city centre comprising 23 one-bedroom properties to rent.
