Anchor awarded LGBTQ+ Housing Pledge Pioneer status

Anchor has been reaccredited Pledge Pioneer status for the second time by the LGBTQ+ Housing Pledge, recognising our commitment to creating more inclusive housing services for LGBTQ+ residents.

Our residents come from all walks of life, and we believe everyone should feel comfortable being themselves in their home and community. Dignity and respect are central to the way we work, and we want everyone living with Anchor to feel valued, listened to and supported.

The LGBTQ+ Housing Pledge is an accreditation scheme for social housing providers, run by HouseProud and delivered by Stonewall Housing. It supports housing providers to improve the experiences of LGBTQ+ people living in social housing.

What does Pledge Pioneer status mean?

Pledge Pioneer is the first accreditation level of the LGBTQ+ Housing Pledge. To achieve it, housing providers must demonstrate their commitment to three key areas:

• giving LGBTQ+ residents opportunities to have a voice in decision-making
• increasing LGBTQ+ visibility across their housing services
• providing staff training to improve understanding of LGBTQ+ lives and experiences

For Anchor, this means continuing to listen to LGBTQ+ residents and understand what matters to them, while looking at how we can make our housing services more welcoming and inclusive.

Creating inclusive communities

We want diversity and inclusion to be part of everyday life across Anchor, not something that only happens at certain times of the year.

Our Pledge Pioneer accreditation gives us a framework to keep learning and improving. We’ll continue working towards the commitments of the Pledge and looking for opportunities to involve LGBTQ+ residents in shaping our services.

Our Pledge Pioneer status runs until 2028, giving us the opportunity to build on this work and continue creating welcoming communities where everyone can feel they belong.
