A Q&A with our Governance and Safeguarding Coordinator, Georgia Frampton
Georgia Frampton started with Anchor as a Business Administration Apprentice and has progressed to a Governance and Safeguarding Coordinator after taking several personal development courses.
In her blog, Georgia shares more about her role as Anchor's Governance and Safeguarding Coordinator at Anchor and her path to her current role.
1. Can you share your journey with Anchor and how you progressed into your current role?
I was eager to learn and grow when I started working as a Business Administration Apprentice on the Talent Team. I sought a permanent role that offered stability and new challenges.
I decided to enhance my skills by taking several in-house training courses on Anchor’s Leadership Academy digital system, which gave me valuable insights and boosted my confidence.
I was excited when the Governance and Safeguarding Coordinator role in Anchor’s Care Oversight and Intelligence team was advertised, and even more so when my manager contacted me directly.
While Anchor is a big organisation, it is a place where colleagues highlight each other’s good work across teams. It felt great to know someone had seen my potential through my daily contributions in my existing role.
I applied, and am now thrilled to contribute to this team. The support, development opportunities, and mentorship I've received have been invaluable in my professional growth.

2. So, what does a Governance and Safeguarding Coordinator do?
No two days are the same in my role, which keeps it engaging and offers continuous opportunities for growth.
I help create key documents like the Digital Care Planning risk report, Care Quality Commission Compliance reports and other Care Quality reports; I also assist with maintaining various vital records, such as the Coroners Log for Care. I work closely with different colleagues to complete DBS referrals when concerns arise, gathering relevant information and ensuring the process is handled efficiently and accurately.
While much of my work happens behind the scenes, it plays a role in the smooth running of Care Services.
3. What do you enjoy most about your Governance Coordinator role?
My job allows me to engage in meaningful work every day, where I can contribute to something bigger than myself.
My challenges push me to grow and develop new skills, which keeps me constantly learning. I enjoy the sense of accomplishment that comes with solving problems and making a positive impact, whether through teamwork or individual effort.
My job also allows me with the opportunity to connect with inspiring colleagues, who share a common passion and drive.
At the heart of it all, I feel a deep sense of fulfilment in knowing that my work has purpose and that it helps others in big and small ways. The blend of personal growth, meaningful work, and a supportive community is what truly makes me passionate about my career.
4. What inspired you to take on new challenges and grow within the organisation?
I was inspired by the opportunity to expand my skills and knowledge while contributing to something meaningful. I have grown professionally and personally by stepping outside of my comfort zone and embracing new challenges.
Being part of an organisation that values innovation and encourages continuous learning motivates me to push my boundaries.
I want to contribute to its success by bringing fresh ideas and solutions. Additionally, the support and mentorship I receive from my colleagues gives me the confidence to tackle complex problems and take on new responsibilities.
5. How has Anchor supported you throughout your career journey so far?
Throughout my apprenticeship journey I have had continuous support and development.
Initially the apprenticeship programme gave me the foundational skills and knowledge to succeed.
My team and other colleagues supported me with advice and guidance and gave me opportunities to participate in different projects.
Additionally, I’ve benefited from one-to-one training with colleagues, who have shared their expertise to help me enhance my skills. Anchor has also offered external training, such as courses in Excel, which have been crucial in developing my technical abilities. I’ve participated in the Internal Interview Skills workshop, which helped refine my approach to professional development and future career progression.
The support hasn’t just been about professional skills—there’s also been a strong focus on well-being. I’ve been helped with balancing work and personal life, and when needed, I’ve been signposted to the Being Well programme, which provides additional support for money, health, and well-being.
Through practice in coaching sessions with colleagues, I’ve learned how to resolve my problems and take ownership of my development. This coaching has helped me become more self-reliant, building my confidence and problem-solving skills.
Overall, the combination of formal training, mentorship, well-being support, and coaching has been crucial in my growth and has helped me feel well-prepared for the future.
