National Day of Reflection
Tuesday 23rd March marks the anniversary of the first coronavirus lockdown.
The charity Marie Curie is launching a National Day of Reflection on this day, to remember those who have lost their lives during the pandemic, to reflect on the ways in which everyone’s daily lives have been impacted, and to connect with others.
At Anchor Hanover, we’re taking the time to reflect on a year that was truly like no other.
Jane Ashcroft CBE, Chief Executive of Anchor Hanover, says:
No one could have predicted the hardships of the past 12 months, and the countless ways in which people’s lives have been impacted. These challenges remind us all of the importance of valuing and connecting with others.
I am thankful to all of our colleagues whose hard work and dedication to keeping our residents and fellow colleagues safe and well, has been truly inspirational. We have all found comfort in ensuring residents can stay connected to loved ones, and in ensuring they continue to have meaningful and fulfilling activities to enjoy, even in lockdown.
I am also grateful to everyone across the country who’s helped lift the nation’s spirits during these times – including those who have connected with their local care home or retirement housing location. We have seen first-hand the profoundly positive impact on our residents and colleagues, when they’re reminded that their community is thinking of them and wishing them well. It has made a world of difference.
Each of our care homes and retirement housing locations across the country will be marking the National Day of Reflection in a way that feels right for their residents.
Recognising the particular impact the last year has had on the social care sector, we are encouraging and supporting our colleagues to take the time to reflect on 23rd March also.
