Anchor opens affordable housing development in Hackney
We are pleased to share that we have officially opened Goldfinch Point, an affordable housing development in Hackney.
The development, launched by Life in Place from Anchor, offers 76 one and two-bedroom apartments for rent and Older Persons Shared Ownership, creating a 168% uplift in affordable housing compared to the previous housing on-site.
Delivered in partnership with The Hill Group, Goldfinch Point is our fourth regeneration project in the London Borough of Hackney and is supported by the Greater London Authority (GLA) and Hackney Council.
Representatives from Anchor, The Hill Group, local government and the Greater London Authority marked the occasion with a ribbon cutting ceremony at the location. The attendees included Deputy Mayor of London Tom Copley, local councillor Sarah Young and representatives from the Department of Health and Social Care.
Having lived in the building before its redevelopment, returning residents also joined in the reopening celebrations at Goldfinch Point, a thoughtfully designed development to support the lifestyles and needs of people aged over 55. Featuring a communal lounge and kitchen, the development provides shared spaces for the residents and their visitors to relax, catch up and connect. The highly sustainable development provides a bio-diversity net gain of 46% alongside a 70% C02 reduction.
Tom Copley, Deputy Mayor of London, commented:
It was fantastic to see the completed homes at Goldfinch Point, delivered with support from the Mayor of London. Ensuring the availability of accessible, affordable homes is vital to supporting older people in the Hackney community to live healthier, happier lives. I’m excited to see further progress on the development and witness the growth of a thriving later living community.
Oliver Boundy, Executive Director of Development at Anchor said:
We’re delighted to mark the opening of this new development, bringing much needed affordable homes to local people in Hackney. We’re looking forward to seeing the community take shape and are dedicated to creating homes where people can enjoy later life to the fullest.
Michael Turner, Regional Director at The Hill Group, comments:
Providing high-quality specialist housing for older people is essential to creating inclusive communities that support people at every stage of life. Goldfinch Point will deliver much-needed affordable homes for over-55s in Hackney, creating a vibrant and sustainable later living community where residents can remain connected to the area they know and love. Working in partnership with Anchor, we are proud to have delivered a thoughtfully designed development that promotes independence, wellbeing and community, allowing people to enjoy later life to the fullest.
Minutes away from the homes are 42 acres of open water and a wetlands wildlife reserve. The development is also within half a mile of Manor House Underground Station, providing residents with access to the Piccadilly line for connections across London.
Currently for sale at Goldfinch Point are a range of one and two-bedroom apartments, with pricing starting from £48,000 for a 10% share. Residents may purchase shares of up to 75% of their properties, in an affordable buying scheme known as Older Persons Shared Ownership. Homeowners that own less than 75% of their property pay a reduced rent on the remaining share.
For more information about the homes that are available to purchase at Goldfinch Point please visit our Life in Place website or call 0203 868 6157.
