Anchor unveils Stowe Central development in Wichelstowe
We officially opened our brand-new development, Stowe Central in Wichelstowe, near Swindon.
The opening event was attended by Anchor colleagues and representatives from McCarthy & Stone and Homes England. Those in attendance from Homes England included Olivia Smith, Manager in the Policy and Programmes team and Laura Marsland, Delivery Manager – Affordable Housing Grants.
Located in Wichelstowe, just outside Swindon, the development launched by Life in Place from Anchor provides 84 one and two-bedroom high quality affordable apartments. The new homes will provide 65 apartments for social rent and 19 Older Persons Shared Ownership apartments.
Now fully open, Stowe Central offers modern communal spaces including a reception, residents lounge, activity room, buggy store and landscaped communal gardens, with each apartment benefitting from either a patio or balcony area.
Victoria Mager, Director of Development Delivery at Anchor, commented:
We are proud to celebrate the opening of Stowe Central. The development will create 84 affordable homes for people aged over 55. We’re looking forward to seeing the community take shape and creating a place where residents can enjoy later life to the fullest
Shane Paull, Chief Operating Officer at McCarthy & Stone added:
Stowe Central has been designed to support independent later living, while providing access to modern shared spaces and amenities. We are pleased to see the development now officially open, having worked alongside Anchor to help bring these affordable homes to Wichelstowe.
Currently for sale at Stowe Central are a range of one and two-bedroom apartments, with prices starting from £80,750 for a 25% share. Residents may purchase shares of up to 75% of their properties, in an affordable buying scheme known as Older Persons Shared Ownership. Homeowners that own less than 75% of their property pay a reduced rent on the remaining share.
