Residents at Cherry Tree Court star in their own pantomime
At Anchor, we create communities that bring people together and encourage neighbourliness. There is a vibrant community at Cherry Tree Court in Wigan and residents, friends and family recently staged their own version of Cinderella.
The evening of the show was filled with lots of laughter as they put their own humorous twist on a well-known classic that included a 77-year-old Cinderella who needed a hip operation.
Everyone spent weeks rehearsing before the big day and it required a lot of preparation. Props and costumes were made in-house, and the scenery was created by a friend of Cherry Tree Court. The final performance was critiqued by fellow residents, who especially enjoyed the final song “we are not young or in our prime, but we can still enjoy the good times.” Family members were also invited to enjoy the spectacle.
Chris Holgate, a resident at Cherry Tree Court and Cinderella cast member said that
Despite offers from Broadway and Andrew Lloyd Webber, we are very much loyal to Cherry Tree Court.
Residents are looking forward to getting together and planning their next event soon. To find out more about Cherry Tree Court in Wigan, click here.
