Anchor shortlisted for two digital awards
We are pleased to announce that we have been shortlisted for two awards for our work to improve digital inclusion and innovation for those in later life through our Connected Properties programme.
At the 2025 UK Digital Inclusion Awards, we were shortlisted in the ‘Digital Skills Development – Community Development Award’ category. This recognition highlights our work, with specialist connectivity provider Wifinity, which is helping to improve digital inclusion for residents across our housing locations and care homes.
In addition, alongside Wifinity, we have been named joint finalists in the Technology Support Provider of the Year category at the prestigious LaingBuisson Awards 2025.
Together with Wifinity, we are pleased to be offering residents much more than just Wi-Fi. The partnership is helping our residents, colleagues and visitors be more connected, confident and supported in an increasingly digital world.
Through the rollout of a new Wi-Fi service, almost 1,700 Anchor locations will have access to fast and reliable internet, enabling residents to keep in touch with family and friends, shop online, and access public services online. Practical guidance, support, and the introduction of “digital champion” sessions, where residents support each other with their digital queries, are helping residents to get online.
By combining technology with a human touch, we are committed to creating stronger and more connected communities.
Ivan Schooner, who lives at Limetree Court in Doncaster, said:
Getting online has made a big difference in my life, as I can now FaceTime my daughter who lives far away. It’s so much more meaningful to see her face rather than just hear her voice over the phone.
This project has had a huge positive impact on our community, and many of us even took a digital skills course to build our confidence, which was made possible by having access to Wi-Fi in our communal lounge.
Julia Mixter, Executive Director of Business Services at Anchor, says:
We are pleased to be shortlisted for these awards. The purpose of our partnership with Wifinity goes far beyond simple internet access – it’s all about helping people in later life live more independent and connected lives. To have this work recognised is a real honour and is a testament to the dedication of our colleagues and partners who have made it possible.
