Anchor residents celebrate The Wharf’s first anniversary
Residents at The Wharf, a later living development by Life in Place by Anchor, celebrated the first anniversary of the development last week. On 16th April, the communal lounge was decked out with bunting and balloons as the residents enjoyed an afternoon of socialising, drinking champagne and eating cake.
The occasion marked a special day in Rochester, Kent, a year on from The Wharf bringing 61 affordable homes to the community. The development enables residents aged 55 and older to live independently in modern apartments with balconies or terraces. The site’s amenities include a hair and beauty salon, scooter storage, a guest suite for visitors and a 24-hour emergency response call system.
Ruth McLeod, the first resident to move into The Wharf comments:
Being the first resident to move into The Wharf, it was particularly special to celebrate its first anniversary within the community we have built. Moving into a new home is an exciting time, but being the very first person to move into a new development is another thing entirely. I was comforted by the assurance that The Wharf is not just about creating homes, but a thriving community, with dedicated areas for get-togethers. A year on, I can confidently say that’s what we’ve achieved here.
Located near Rochester town centre, the Wharf is set amongst rich heritage buildings and
infrastructure, ranging from a 12th century castle to a world-famous 16th century dockyard. With Rochester Station situated just opposite the development, the residents are connected to national railway lines. Closer to home are over 2.5km of waterside walks along the River Medway, offering glimpses into Britain’s maritime history.
Sandra Walters, Sales Consultant at The Wharf, comments:
Later living developments like The Wharf bring real social connection and independence to residents. As we reach the anniversary milestone of The Wharf, we have a moment to reflect on the success of the last year, and celebrate the new community that is starting to grow.
The Wharf’s two and three-bedroom apartments are available to purchase through shared ownership, with prices starting from £73,750 for an 25% share of an 2-bedroom home.
