Anchor colleague up for Unsung Hero award
We are delighted to share that Debbie Prince, a Location Manager at Reverend Bill Baker Court housing location has been named as a finalist in the Lincolnshire Sport and Physical Activity Awards 2024.
Debbie is one of three finalists competing to be crowned Unsung Hero in the annual awards.
The awards recognise the positive impact physical activity has on people’s lives and celebrate those who actively contribute to the health and wellbeing of Lincolnshire residents. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the awards, which will be presented in November
Debbie has been recognised for her outstanding seven-year contribution, which includes organising a free weekly meet up and walk, aptly named Debbie's Wednesday Walking Group. The group evolved from Debbie’s deep passion for encouraging and motivating people to be more active.
Through her walking group, Debbie has built a real community. In 2019, she finally accomplished her dream of getting 100 people involved in one of the walks she had set up.
Reflecting on being a finalist at the Lincolnshire Sport and Physical Activity Awards, Debbie said:
I cannot believe it. It’s a great feeling to get recognition for something you’re so passionate about. I love how much the group helps lift the spirits of everyone.
During her time as Location Manager at Reverend Bill Baker Court, Debbie has strived to build a great community where residents can thrive. Those who have been discharged from hospital after a lengthy stay are welcomed home with a welcome notice and a balloon on their doors.
Debbie introduced Show Case Friday Coffee Morning, so every resident can bring down different items that they have handmade over the years. She’s also always the first to dress up for Superhero Friday, another initiative she introduced.
Anchor Area Manager Evi Matless said:
Debbie is loved by residents, relatives and visitors and I think she deserves recognition for her dedication. She has the kindest heart, goes above and beyond every single day for the residents and anyone who visits the estate.
Earlier this year, she picked up one of Anchor’s Colleague Awards, and fingers crossed she can bring home the award in November!
