Meet Ann and Cyril - two residents who have made the most of our Be Digital programme

Our Be Digital programme offers support for Anchor residents looking to gain confidence with all things digital. Aiming to help improve knowledge and confidence, we hope to ensure the people living with us all benefit from everything the internet has to offer them.

It also offers the more tech-savvy people across Anchor a brilliant volunteering opportunity to share their knowledge with others.

Ann Stevens is one such resident who decided to get involved with Be Digital last year. Ann supported fellow resident Cyril to apply for a tablet loan after finding out that although he had a smart phone he was finding he needed a bigger screen to make the most of the technology. 

She has since shown Cyril how watch YouTube videos, connect with his family by video call and send messages.

The things that Cyril uses his new tablet for the most however are puzzles and game apps. A word search master, Cyril says that he’s become educated and found words he had never heard of before. He whiles away the hours playing shoot ‘em’ up games and even takes his tablet to the laundry room with him to get a game in while waiting for his washing. 

This tablet was a lifeline during lockdown – I don’t know what I would have done without it.
