Community Christmas with Re-engage

December is here and while many people are busy seeing loved ones and family, for others it can be an especially difficult time of year.

Ruth ArnottAt Anchor we partner with the specialist charity Re-engage to deliver our telephone based befriending service all year round. We know how important connections with other people are for all our wellbeing and that sometimes even those of us with the biggest networks can feel lonely. The pressures of “how Christmas is meant to be” can make that feel even worse.

That’s why we love Re-engage’s Community Christmas initiative that advertises Christmas-time events right across the UK in a directory on their website. Community groups, charities, pubs, Churches, lunch clubs, cafes and other organisations all sign up with the details of their events and Re-engage help to make sure that older people get to hear about the events and can find them easily.

Across Anchor’s housing locations, where we are holding community events open to the wider community, our managers will also be listing them on the Re-engage website too and would love to invite local people to come along.

No-one should be alone at Christmas unless they want to be and Community Christmas is a great way for people to find places they can go to celebrate the festive season with others.

Check out the Community Christmas website and event database to see what is going on near you.
