Tolson Grange care home praised by care regulator

Tolson Grange care home in Huddersfield has been classed as Good in all areas and overall by regulator the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Staff at Anchor’s Tolson Grange in were celebrating this week after receiving the accolade.

The home, which cares for up to 42 residents, was praised by the CQC in the recent inspection which took place on 23rd November and 4th December 2017. Care homes are now classed as either outstanding, good, requiring improvement or inadequate.

Regional Support Manager Sharon Croucher said everyone at the home was thrilled because they had worked so hard to maintain high standards of care. 

She said: “We have worked hard to make Tolson Grange a good care home but to be given such praise from the regulator is wonderful. We are proud of the care we provide, of the meals which are made from fresh seasonal ingredients and of the wide variety of meaningful activities enjoyed by our residents.

“Anchor has a specialist dementia care team so we also know how to care for people living with the condition so they lead as fulfilling a life as possible. 

“We welcome such rigorous inspections and clear ratings so older people and their families can see which homes are the best in the country. We’re so pleased to be classed as a good care home - we’ll be celebrating this success.”

The CQC inspection report, which can be found on the regulator’s website, highlighted the following examples of high standards of care at Tolson Grange: One resident said, “Staff know me well and I know them.” “People were complimentary about the food and drink they were given.”

Frank Littlewood, a resident at Tolson Grange’s commented on the home, “Tolson Grange is a great place to live. Everyone is so kind and helpful. We have a good laugh with the staff and I know they are always there if I need anything.”
