Thornton Hill care home spreads Christmas cheer
In the run up to Christmas, a care home in Craven welcomed guests for a festive filled day.
The care team at Anchor’s Thornton Hill care home on Church Road decked out the home in decorations and dressed up in Christmas jumpers as they were joined by nearby Anchor care homes for a day filled with Christmas themed activities.
The day kicked off with some friendly competition during a Christmas cake decorating competition. Anchor’s Gills Top care home in Skipton won Best Resident Cake while Anchor’s Firth House care home in Selby won Best Colleague Cake.
Toni Fletcher, resident at Anchor’s Thornton Hill care home said how much they have been looking forward to decorating the cake: “I’m a big fan of Christmas cake decorating so I was pleased when I heard that we would be holding a Christmas cake competition.
I’ve always enjoyed decorating cakes, almost as much as I enjoy eating them! I really like the baking sessions at Anchor’s Thornton Hill care home, and it was a great way to get into the holiday spirit.
A singer joined the group for Christmas carolling and everyone enjoyed a special visit from Santa. Residents were also able to dig into a Christmas buffet lunch including festive favourites such as sausage rolls and pork pies.
Sharleen Polley, Manager of Anchor’s Thornton Hill Close care home, said:
Activities such as baking and carolling are firm favourites among our residents and it was nice to have the other homes join us for a fun filled day of Christmas spirit. We’re really looking forward to continuing to celebrate throughout the month!
