Anchor secures consent for 76 affordable homes for over 55s in Hackney
We have secured consent for 76 affordable homes for over 55s in Hackney.
The redevelopment, on the site of a sheltered housing scheme on Newnton Close, will deliver one- and two-bedroom apartments, 100% of which will be affordable in tenure. Forty of the new homes will be available for affordable rent and the remaining 36 properties will be shared ownership. Our new development will significantly increase the total affordable housing on the site.
Our Newnton Close project will also deliver a significant increase in quality green and open space for residents compared to the current site, thanks to planned investment in native trees and flora, which will achieve a biodiversity net gain of 46% – above and beyond the soon to be required 10%. This is in addition to a 218% increase in urban greening factor in comparison to the existing site. In addition, the proposals include communal lounge facilities for residents to meet and host guests, and there will parking spaces for 44 mobility buggies.
Nick Hodgskin, our Senior Development Manager, said:
We’re delighted to have secured planning permission for our latest regeneration project in Hackney which will create a genuinely affordable housing scheme for people living in later life. We’ve got a strong track record in Hackney, having already developed several popular schemes, including our award-winning development Walrond House. Thank you to all those involved in creating this exciting new project.
Newnton Close offers easy access to a wide range of local amenities and transport links and is close to both Manor House Underground Station and Stamford Hill Train Station.
Construction is expected to commence in 2023.
