Savile Park care home praised by care regulator
Savile Park care home in Halifax has been classed as Good in all five areas by regulator the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Staff at Anchor’s Savile Park were celebrating this week after receiving the accolade.
The home, which cares for up to 55 residents, was praised by the CQC in the recent inspection which took place on 26th September 2018. Care homes are now classed as either outstanding, good, requiring improvement or inadequate.
Home Manager Christine Tuck said everyone at the home was thrilled because they had worked so hard to maintain high standards of care.
She said: “We have worked hard to make Savile Park a good care home but to be given such praise from the regulator is wonderful. We are proud of the care we provide, of the meals which are made from fresh seasonal ingredients and of the wide variety of meaningful activities enjoyed by our residents.”
Christine continued: “Anchor has a specialist dementia care team so we also know how to care for people living with the condition so they lead as fulfilling a life as possible. We welcome such rigorous inspections and clear ratings so older people and their families can see which homes are the best in the country. We’re so pleased to be classed as a good care home - we’ll be celebrating this success.”
The CQC inspection report, which can be found on the regulator’s website, highlighted the following examples of high standards of care at Savile Park: The report stated, ’People were treated with respect and their privacy and dignity was maintained.’ The report went on to say, ‘People, relatives and staff provided positive feedback about the way the home was run and praised the leadership and management.’
The inspectors also talked to residents, staff and family and their comments included, "There is always staff around"; "(Staff) come quickly providing there's no emergencies" and "If I need staff they come straightaway."
