Anchor’s Silk Court shows off Tovertafel to Sky News
One of Anchor’s ‘Outstanding’ Care Homes was the centre of attention this week as it showed off its successful Tovertafel system to Sky News.
Tovertafel – or ‘Magic Table’ as it is often referred to, helps those living with dementia. Anchor’s Silk Court Care Home in Bethnal Green, East London is one of nine Anchor properties currently trialing the system.
Rob Martin, Anchor’s Head of Care Quality, said: “Tovertafel is a brilliant Dutch invention that has only recently come to the UK. Here at Anchor, we are very pleased with the way the trials are going and from a care point of view, there is no doubt it helps those living with dementia.
"Clearly, it has other benefits too - it has helped older people improve their hand-eye coordination and one of the most delightful things to see is the total joy it brings to residents playing the simplest of games with their grandkids when they come to visit.
”For this particular occasion, we invited primary school children from Bethnal Green and they clearly enjoyed it along with our wonderful residents.
"Silk Court is one of four Anchor care homes currently rated ‘Outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission, so it was the perfect location to demonstrate how it works.”
The news item is due to be aired over the Easter 2018 weekend on various Sky platforms at the following times:
