The Manor House resident enjoys festive window pint with his son
A resident from The Manor House, Harrogate enjoyed a window pint with his son during a special visit last week.
Colin Lund, 76, who moved to Anchor’s The Manor House in September, saw his son Phillip through a care home window where together they enjoyed a pint of Black Sheep beer. He said:
It’s hard when I have to stay away from my family so being able to see them and even share a pint means the world to me. I feel really lucky to have my family visit and the staff here have been wonderful about it.
Phillip Lund, who lives in Chester, visits his father often and thought sharing a beer with his father through a window was a great way to enjoy each other’s company like they always have. He said:
Going to the pub, having a pint and talking together is something my dad and I have always done. With lockdown and him moving to The Manor House we weren’t able to do that, but I told my dad there was no reason we couldn’t drink together as normal.
Phillip says he and his father, who previously worked as a sales director at John Smith’s Brewery, have always shared a love for beer.
It’s the most natural thing for my dad and I to have a glass of beer together and coronavirus wasn’t going to stop it. I sat out there with my coat on and brought the beer.
Stephanie Foulds, Manager at The Manor House in Harrogate, was thrilled to help Colin and Phillip enjoy the special visit. She said:
We want to make life as normal as possible for our residents and it was great to see Colin and his son enjoy such a fun time together. We are really looking forward to being able to enable more visits and have heartfelt moments like this one.
