  • The Manor House Harrogate care home takes virtual tour of Paris

The Manor House Harrogate care home takes virtual tour of Paris

A Harrogate care home have brought a trip aboard into their front room by organising a virtual tour of Paris for their residents.Paris Tour

Given the current travel restrictions, a trip to Paris seemed unlikely for the residents of Anchor’s The Manor House Harrogate on Cornwall Road. However, the care team at The Manor House had other ideas and organised a special virtual Parisian experience created by travel specialists Limitless Travel.

On Friday 26 February, the residents all joined zoom and were taken around the streets of Paris by Limitless Travels’ local guides in their newly released “Day in the Life of a Parisian” experience.

The residents enjoyed activities such as learning how to order a Parisian “Tradi” and how to have a perfect French picnic. The residents learned about the history of iconic Parisian landmarks such as The Louvre and the Royal Palace of Versailles as well as the future of the city and the renovation plans for Notre Dame Cathedral.

The day was an illuminating experience, even for those who had been to Paris before, and  even though nothing can beat the true wonder of Paris, the residents all agreed that the team at Limitless Travel did an incredible job of bringing the City of Lights to their living room!

Resident Pat Clarke, 85, was delighted by the virtual trip to Paris, saying:

It was absolutely fantastic! Who’d have thought modern technology could bring Paris to Harrogate? I’ve been to Paris before, so this experience brought back many happy memories. Paris is one of the supreme cities of the world and I had a great time learning all about traditional Paris life and its incredible history.

Helen Maude, a Lifestyle Coordinator at The Manor House Harrogate, said:

Thank you so much to Limitless Travel for very kindly donating their time and expertise to provide our residents with this experience. Everyone had a wonderful time and it was incredible to learn so much about Paris! It was a pleasure to be involved in this project here at the Manor House and it was great that all the residents got to enjoy some nice cheese, wine and a tour of Paris together!

Angus Drummond, CEO of Limitless Travel, said:

It’s been such a delight to work with Anchor Hanover on this and to give their residents the chance to visit Paris and take in some of the delights this wonderful city has to offer. At Limitless Travel we believe that everybody, regardless of age or disability, should always have the opportunity to explore the world. We organise live virtual tours giving people the chance to travel the globe from the comfort of their home. Travel is so important to improve mood, stimulate the mind, increase life satisfaction and boost overall happiness. These are live tours of destinations around the world hosted by local guides. They are completely unique and interactive activities that allow everyone to engage with new cultural experiences online.
