  • The Manor House Harrogate care home residents enjoy outdoor visits

The Manor House Harrogate care home residents enjoy outdoor visits

The Manor House care home in Harrogate is starting Spring off on the right foot as walks in the park are reinstated.

Residents at Anchor’s The Manor House care home on Cornwall Road can now enjoy accompanied outdoor visits without having to self-isolate upon their return thanks to new government guidelines.

Prior to the pandemic, residents enjoyed frequent trips to the vibrant Valley Gardens park in Harrogate. The care team has been working hard to restart these visits in time for residents to see the first signs of Spring blooming in the lush gardens.

June Privett, 93, resident at Anchor’s The Manor House, enjoyed the fresh air and sunshine on a recent trip to the park accompanied by a member of the care team.

She said:

I used to be an avid walker and being able to go out to the park again is such a lovely experience. I adore the pretty flowers and seeing people enjoy the warmer weather and sunshine. I loved our first walk to Valley Gardens so much I asked my daughter to take me the next time she visits! I felt so wonderful after going to the park.

June isn’t the only resident with a spring in her step. The care team has noticed an improvement to many residents’ wellbeing and moods since their jaunts to the park.

Helen Maude, Activity Co-ordinator at Anchor’s The Manor House Harrogate said:

Being able to take the residents out to the park has been very valuable, they can’t stop smiling. Valley Gardens is a wonderful place where you can see life in all its beauty. We feel the peace in the Chinese Garden, notice the lovely Spring colours of the birds in the water and see children from the local school visit the frog pond. The fresh air and change of scenery are extremely therapeutic for everyone.
