For our residents, the Queen was a constant figurehead with many remembering her coronation
The announcement of Queen Elizabeth II’s death and her funeral was an emotional time for the country and our residents. Our care homes and housing locations wanted to ensure that residents had the opportunity to pay their respects and observe the period of mourning.
Many of our locations paid tribute to our late Queen by putting up picture displays, raising toasts, and allowing residents to sign a book of condolence. Berkeley Court was featured in the BBC when it televised the funeral as many residents were invited to share their memories of the Queen. Many other locations decorated communal and outdoor spaces with the Union flag and banners of the Queen and allowed residents to gather to watch the funeral on the 19 September.
Take a look at our carousel below to see what our homes did to commemorate the Queen.
