Catering assistant marks 20 years of service at Dawson Lodge care home
A Southampton catering assistant celebrated 20 years of delivering care for older people in her hometown.
Pamela Conner, aged 72, has been employed at Dawson Lodge in Southampton since 2001. Pamela, who grew up in West End, worked in the maternity unit at Southampton General Hospital during her younger years before having her own children. Her passion for helping others led her to join Anchor Hanover and transition to a career caring for older people.
Pamela began at Dawson Lodge as a care assistant before deciding to join the catering team where she has whipped up delicious food for residents ever since. She enjoys cooking meat potato pie, her expertise, and always receives compliments on her cooked breakfasts. When she has time after her shift during the warmer months, Pamela uses her green thumb to help with the home’s garden, often involving residents.
She said:
I love helping other people and working at Dawson Lodge. It’s become my home away from home and it doesn’t feel like work to me.
To mark the milestone, Pamela was presented with a bouquet of flowers and prosecco amidst many congratulations from her colleagues.
Mitchelle Perry, home manager of Dawson Lodge, said:
Pamela is such a great team player who goes above and beyond for residents. She is an amazing asset to the home and a delight to work with. Her positive aura radiates to colleagues and residents alike!
