Anchor to redevelop Holly Court
Anchor, England’s largest not-for-profit provider of specialist housing and care for people in later life will work with local contractor CG Fry and Sons to redevelop Holly Court in Weymouth.
Holly Court was badly affected by Storm Eunice in February 2022; it will be demolished to make way for the new Holly Court development - 34 one and three two-bedroom apartments for social rent for over 55s, with communal facilities including a lounge with kitchenette for social activities and purpose-built storage for scooters.
The new homes will be more sustainable and energy efficient – with a fabric first approach design providing above building regulation requirements for insulation and a high level of PV panels to reduce residents’ consumption costs alongside new electric vehicle charging points. The scheme will also provide a 10% net biodiversity gain compared to the previous development.
Nick Hodgskin, Senior Development Manager for Anchor said:
We are delighted that we can now make a start on redeveloping Holly Court after we carried out a full and detailed assessment of the options available. Redeveloping the site allows us to provide homes which are fit for purpose, creating more and better affordable housing for older people.
Mike Pinney, Contracting Director of CG Fry and Son Ltd said:
We are delighted to be working in partnership with Anchor and the project team, providing much needed high quality and sustainable homes for the local community.
Work on the development is set to begin shortly, with anticipated completion expected in 2025.
