Maple Tree Court care home celebrates residents 100th birthday
A resident of a Kidsgrove care home celebrated her 100th birthday on Thursday 12 August with a party for her relatives, friends, and staff.
Centenarian Mrs Nora Nixon blew out her 100 candles at the party held for her at Maple Tree Court care home on Gloucester Road in Kidsgrove where she has lived for the past three years.
Mrs Nixon was born in Tunstall in 1921 and was married in the Sacred Heart Church in Tunstall. She had a son and adopted a daughter with her husband, Edward, before moving to Anchor’s Maple Tree Court in 2018.
In celebration of her incredible milestone, Mrs Nixon was treated to a party with family and friends organised by the team at Maple Tree Court. Along with the traditional 100th birthday telegram from the Queen, Mrs Nixon received beautiful birthday cards from friends and well-wishers and enjoyed tucking into a specially prepared birthday cake and some champagne with her family and the team at Maple Tree Court.
Mrs Nixon said:
It’s feels very strange, I almost can’t quite believe I’m 100! I’m so happy that I can celebrate today with my family and friends especially after the past 18 months apart.
I’d like to say a big thank you to the team at Anchor’s Maple Tree Court for organising all the fun too!
Claire Wright, manager of Anchor’s Maple Tree Court Manager said:
Mrs Nixon is a lovely person, and we are delighted to be celebrating her 100th birthday with her and help mark the special occasion.
Her favourite activity is chatting with others and reminiscing about her life and her family.
