Manor House Chef Manager crowned Chef of the Year

Paul Richardson Mackie, Chef Manager at The Manor House Harrogate, clinched the coveted top spot in our prestigious Chef of the Year competition.

Chef of the Year 2020 was a little different this year with entrants embracing the latest technology. All entries were online (each submission in the form of videos and photos) with a total of 18 finalists from catering teams from care homes across England.

Paul, Chef of the Year 2020

Paul’s winning menu was chosen with the help of our Manor House residents, with his dishes consisting of a braised blade of Yorkshire Beef with root vegetable puree, braised shallots, beef and horseradish croquette and potato and celeriac dauphinoise. Dessert was a delicious apple and blackberry panna cotta, caramelised pear and white chocolate and vanilla shortbread.
Paul was very pleased with his win, saying:

I’m delighted to have won, I saw a lot of the entries and honestly they all looked wonderful - I’m astonished that I even placed among the finalists! I’ve always prided myself on working with my residents when it comes to my menus so a lot of the credit should maybe also go to them!
