Celebrating an amazing 75 year wedding anniversary
Arnold and Rita celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary on Friday 31 March with relatives and friends at Wetherby Manor care home.
The happy couple cut their celebratory cake and enjoyed some champagne at a party held for them at Wetherby Manor, where they have lived for eight years. They also received a card from King Charles and the Queen Consort congratulating them for the milestone in their marriage.
Grandparents of five grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren, Arnold and Rita were married in Moor town, Leeds in 1948.
Arnold said:
It was love at first sight, we just knew we would spend the rest of our lives together.
We are very content here at Anchor’s Wetherby Manor and the care team is marvellous, we are looked after very well.
Rita added:
I deserve a medal for putting up with Arnold but wouldn’t change him for the world! We are still very much in love.
Caroline Byron, Manager of Wetherby Manor, said:
Arnold has a dry sense of humour and loves to talk about the past. Rita is quieter and loves to be well presented. She is known as the queen to some of the care team.
The couple enjoys many of the activities we put on for residents at Anchor’s Wetherby Manor care home. Their favourite activities are exercise classes and entertainment events.
