Colleague nominated for “Food Blogger of the Year” award
Shannon Palmer, who works at Springfield care home in Bradford has been nominated for a blogger award
Shannon began documenting her weight loss journey on Instagram, finding solace in the supportive online community. Over 5 years, the number of people following her account has grown to 51,000 followers. The content she produces has also evolved to cover a wider range of culture content, including theatre and restaurant reviews. Now, she has been nominated for Food Blogger of the Year in the Yorkshire Blogger Awards.
Since starting her Instagram account, Shannon’s skills as a content creator have continued to develop, and that has brought about many new opportunities.
As well as working full time with us, Shannon also manages the social media channels for Bradford’s Tickle Music Hall and writes for H&N magazine.
On being shortlisted for the award, Shannon said:
I am so excited to have been shortlisted for a Yorkshire blogger award, I can't believe it what an achievement it is to even be shortlisted, little old me being shortlisted in the top 5.
How Shannon uses her skills as an influencer to go above and beyond in her role
Shannon Palmer joined us five years ago and works as a specialist dementia carer:
I enjoy working at Anchor and getting the feeling of pride looking after the residents they feel like family, I feel proud putting the purple uniform on.
Shannon often puts her outreach talent to good use for Springfield care home. In the past she made an appeal on local radio which resulted in B&Q donating equipment to create a Winter Wonderland experience in the home’s garden.
Over lockdown she worked with local businesses to ensure a constant flow of treats for residents to lift spirits. These thoughtful gestures have endeared Shannon to colleagues and residents.
The winner of the awards will be announced during a ceremony at Left Bank, Leeds on the 29 September. We wish Shannon the best of luck as she has our support and the backing of colleagues and residents at Springfield care home, and we look forward to hearing of the result. You can find Shannon on Instagram here.
