Residents and colleagues get moving in March

2023

Throughout March we’ve been encouraging residents and colleagues to get moving in whatever way they can to hit the government’s recommended target of 150 minutes of activity per week.

There are plenty of fun and easy ways we can all get more active and at Anchor there’s always something going on that encourages movement. Whether it’s going on a walk around a local park, exploring the countryside with a friend, dancing along to the radio or taking part in one of our Zest or Be Active programmes, we champion the enjoyment movement in later life because we see the benefits first-hand every day.

Being physically active is not just great for the body, it’s also good for the mind. Physical activity releases endorphins that can trigger positive feelings and boost energy levels. You don't need an expensive gym membership to keep fit either. Some free and simple ways to increase your activity levels may include:

  • Looking up and going on local walking routes
  • Taking the stairs instead of the lift
  • Using outdoor gym equipment that is available in local parks
  • Gardening

Healthy new habits for life

This March we're shining a spotlight on the different ways we can all get more active - and how these easy increases in movement can be built into our everyday lives to become good habits for the whole year round.
