Silver Court seeks green-fingered volunteers
Silver Court care home in East Grinstead is appealing for volunteers to get involved with an exciting new gardening project to transform its garden areas.
Anchor’s Silver Court care home in East Grinstead will host two volunteer days on Thursday 7 June and Friday 29 June from 10am to 3pm.
Volunteers will be laying the groundwork for a sensory garden including an allotment whereby customers can get involved in growing their own fruit and vegetables to be used in our kitchens. As well as provide ingredients for a host of fun food related activities.
The garden will also include a summer house; water feature and raised planting beds so that residents with limited mobility can try their hand at gardening.
Jane Baxter Home Manager said: “We would love the local community to join us in this exciting project and hope lots of people will be willing to get stuck in and lend a helping hand.”
“You don’t have to be an expert gardener or heavy lifter to take part – we are also looking for help with lighter activities such as planting seedlings and painting the men shed.” We are also looking for donations of plants, seeds, pots, garden and tools which are in good condition
Volunteers are asked to arrive at 10am and will be provided with homemade refreshments throughout the day. If you’d like to take part, please call Jane White activities co-ordinator on 0800 085 4250.
