Oakleigh care home residents visit Brighton
The residents of Oakleigh care home in Godstone were treated to a trip to Brighton seaside as part of Dementia Action Week.
Staff at Oakleigh took the time to chat with their residents to find out about their fondest memories. They decided that visiting the popular seaside city would hopefully bring back cherished memories.
Oakleigh Home Care Manager, Tabitha Harrison-Lyons, said:
"We had such a great time at Brighton seaside as part of Dementia Action Week. We took time with our residents to find out about their past and get to know their future wishes. Some have fond memories of spending time with their families at the seaside, eating fish and chips and taking in the sea air. We are so pleased to be able to achieve these wishes for our residents and have made out own fond memories with them!"
Many of Anchor's care homes held sessions and events during Dementia Action Week, aiming to transform the way the nation thinks about the condition, as well as discussing Inspire, Anchor’s new initiative to help care staff develop person-centred care around the themes of nutrition, wellbeing, care practice and the home’s environment.
