Managing your money can be hard, especially if you are no longer working and on a fixed income.

With the rising costs of bills and living on limited incomes, it is becoming increasingly difficult to manage our day-to-day finances. Creating a budget and sticking to it can be an effective way of overcoming this.

Creating a budget can sound like a daunting task but put simply, it is creating a plan to balance your expenditure with your income. 

How can budgeting help me?

Budgeting can help you spend wisely on the things you need (household bills, groceries etc)

How to use the budgeting tool

To use this budgeting tool, you will need to provide the following information:

• Details of your income. This is all income e.g. from earnings and any state benefits
• If you are part of a couple, you will need details of your partners income too
• You will also need a list of your expenditure. This includes all household bills and any regular expenses you have including payments towards any outstanding debts or credit cards.

The budgeting tool will consider your personal circumstances including your marital status, and whether you have any dependent children. It is important to provide accurate information, therefore, it is a good idea to have your bank statement to hand to double check the amounts. 

If you wish to discuss your budget further, please note the budget reference number in the top right of the tool. This will help us to help you without starting again.
