Residents share fond memories of Queen’s Coronation

Residents at Teal Beck House care home welcomed two very special visitors to celebrate Queen’s Platinum Jubilee on Friday 3 June 2022.

Residents share fond memories of Queen’s CoronationResidents at Teal Beck House care home wanted to celebrate with a theme close to the Queen’s heart and with her well-known passion for horses they felt a visit from a racehorse would be a great way to do that. So, the team invited local racehorse trainer, Jo Foster, to bring two of her horses to visit the residents!

The residents enjoyed petting and feeding both a racehorse, Rocco, and Shetland pony, Teddy, who was small enough to even visit inside the care home.

The residents also enjoyed an afternoon tea party, cake and bun stall, a performance from musical dancing act Musical Moments and wet sponge throwing at staff to end the day.

Anne Noonan, age 81, who has lived at Teal Beck House care home for two years said:

I used to work on a farm and ride the horses in the fields, I have lots of happy memories of that time.  So, it was great to have this visit over the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend from these two lovely horses.

Eileen Armstrong, age 95, who has lived at Teal Beck House care home for one year said:

I used to live near the fields where the horses kept and I loved going to see them, I really enjoyed the visit from the horses, and brought back a lot of fond memories.

Louise Bulcock, Manager at Teal Beck House care home added:

It’s lovely that we were able to celebrate such a historic occasion with our residents. Thanks so much to Jo for bringing her horses to visit us, they really brightened up everyone’s day!

We’re so happy to celebrate her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee - even though she’s royalty, we all feel like we’ve grown up with her.  We always love celebrating special events and occasions at Teal Beck House and supplying a wide variety of meaningful activities as they help our residents’ wellbeing and mental health.
