  • Hatfield House care home couple reunite for Valentine’s Day

Hatfield House care home couple reunite for Valentine’s Day

A husband and wife are looking forward to a special Valentine’s day celebration after being reunited at Hatfield House care home.

Valerie and Ian Argo, who live at Hatfield House care home on Crookes Broom Avenue will be celebrating Valentine’s Day together with the rest of the residents and team at Hatfield House.Hatfield House Valentine

The couple, who were married in 1963, said the secret to their marriage was to spend time together and have common interests, particularly dancing! Originally Valerie moved into Hatfield House by herself last year. Although they kept in touch regularly, lockdown made it very difficult for both of them, so Ian decided to move into Hatfield House as well to be with the love of his life.

Valerie and Ian will be joining their friends at Hatfield House for a small Valentine’s celebration on Sunday 14 February and have already given each other love heart decorated Valentine’s cards!

Valerie said:

I can still remember the day we met. It was at an RAF dance and it was honestly love at first sight! We’ve enjoyed each other’s company since and always enjoyed doing nice things together on Valentine’s Day. Valentine’s Day is a chance to show you care for someone you love, and we are still in love after 57 years of marriage.

Tanya Burnett, Manager of Hatfield House, said how happy the team were to see Ian and Valerie reunited and looked forward to helping them celebrate Valentine’s day. She said:

It’s been so lovely to see Ian and Valerie reunited, you can tell how happy they are together! We always aim to ensure our residents are as happy and well looked after.
