Eric Morecambe House to celebrate Veteran Friendly Framework status

Residents and colleagues at Eric Morecambe House in Morecambe are to celebrate achieving Veteran Friendly Framework status with a special event to be attended by the mayor of Lancaster Councillor Roger Dennison. 

The event on Thursday 9 May comes just a day after nationwide commemorations to mark VE Day and takes place at 10.30am at the home, Councillor Dennison will open the celebrations followed by a military-themed musical performance by Rachel Mercer.

Refreshments and drinks will be followed by a performance of wartime songs and an afternoon barbecue, with the home’s gardens draped in bunting.

The Veteran Friendly Framework is an accreditation service for care homes who look after armed forces’ veterans. It aims to tackle loneliness and isolation and deliver improved health and wellbeing outcomes for more than 25,000 veterans.

It offers training and resources to assess and improve care home services for veterans. Care providers must meet eight standards to complete their accreditation.

Eric Morecambe House can now display the Veteran Friendly Framework certificate, poster and congratulations letter.
