A care home in Upton has again been classed as Good in all five areas by regulator the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Staff at Anchor’s Upton Grange were celebrating this week after receiving the accolade.
The home, which cares for up to 52 residents, was praised by the CQC in the recent inspection which took place on 31st May 2018. Care homes are now classed as either outstanding, good, requiring improvement or inadequate.
Home Manager Julie Harwood said everyone at the home was thrilled because they had worked so hard to maintain high standards of care.
She said: “We have worked hard to make Upton Grange a good care home but to be given such praise from the regulator is wonderful. The highlight is their outstanding comments on caring. We are proud of the meals which are made from fresh seasonal ingredients and of the wide variety of meaningful activities enjoyed by our residents.
“Anchor has a specialist dementia care team so we also know how to care for people living with the condition so they lead as fulfilling a life as possible.
“We welcome such rigorous inspections and clear ratings so older people and their families can see which homes are the best in the country. We’re so pleased to be classed as a good care home - we’ll be celebrating this success.”
The CQC inspection report, which can be found on the regulator’s website, highlighted the following examples of high standards of care at Upton Grange:
"Staff are always around supporting. It's the same every time I come in." "We had a get together for the royal wedding. It was lovely"
When asked if their loved one was treated with dignity, a relative commented "Dignity for my relative; that was really important to us as a family especially when you are making tough decision around moving into a home to begin with. We have not been disappointed. It's a great home. My relative loves it here, everyone looks after them so well".
