Free Wills Month - a simple way to protect your loved ones

Thinking about the future isn’t always easy, but having a valid will in place can give you and your family valuable peace of mind. 

That's why Free Wills Month, which takes place each March and October, is such a useful opportunity for people aged 55 and over. It offers eligible individuals the chance to have a simple will written or updated free of charge by participating solicitors in selected locations across the UK. 

A will is an important legal document that sets out what should happen to your money, property and possessions when you die. Without a will, the law decides how your estate is divided, which may not reflect your wishes. 
Free Wills Month is funded by a group of participating charities. While you are under no obligation to leave a gift to charity in your will, many people choose to do so as a way of supporting causes they care about. 

It's worth remembering that appointments for these sessions can be popular and may fill up quickly. The scheme is generally available for straightforward wills, so if your circumstances are more complex, your solicitor will advise whether additional costs might apply.

Considering leaving a gift for Anchor in your will

Although we don’t encourage residents to leave Anchor a gift in their will, we do understand some residents may wish to do this, as a way of saying ‘thank you’ or as a legacy so that other Anchor residents can benefit. This may be by leaving something in your will to benefit the residents where you live or by leaving money to Anchor more generally through Anchor’s Community Grants Scheme.
