Understanding dementia

Anchor care homes provide tailored dementia care to each person. There are two fundamental aspects to our approach; valuing the individual and providing a safe, specially adapted environment. Through a combination of both we aim to help residents achieve the best quality of life.

Through our understanding of dementia, we present an environment and level of care which is tailored to individual needs. We also strive to ensure our services reflect best practice and learning in dementia care. Our colleagues receive specialist training, education and support from Anchor’s dedicated dementia team. They also support families and friends by providing access to information and advice, to help build confidence and understanding.

We see each person as unique, with a rich history, experience, abilities, skills, knowledge, preferences, desires and personality.

Anchor care homes offer dementia care in specially adapted environments that have a number of features to help maximise a person’s independence and enhance their self-esteem. We understand the value of maintaining independence and that privacy and choice are important.
